About
Wimberley
(Previous

House.)
Wimberley, Texas is located about forty-five minutes from
Austin and an hour and fifteen minutes from north San Antonio
on the Blanco River. It is thirty minutes west of San Marcos
and the I-H 35 corridor. Nestled in the limestone hills of
Central Texas, Wimberley exemplifies what Texans refer to
as "the Hill Country." With twenty-mile views from the "Blanco
Highway" (FM 2325) to the Devil's Backbone, visitors experience
the beauty that has made Wimberley a popular vacation destination
since the 1940s.
You may want to visit some of our local attractions. In 2002,
an answer heard on the television game show Jeopardy, "In
this small, Texas town one can find the largest single collection
of Remington bronze sculptures in the world," yielded a question,
"What is Wimberley, Texas?" Where is this great treasure?
It is in The Pioneer Museum of Western Art at the 7-A
Ranch & Pioneer
Town (River Road at Wayside.) Not only does the museum
contain the collection described on the famous quiz show,
it is also the home of a magnificent collection of western
art paintings and lithographs. In addition, the museum lies
in a "town" full of authentic and recreated buildings depicting
the architectural style of the old west. Housed within the
buildings is a vast array of historical artifacts such as
a working antique printing press, an antique, horse-drawn
hearse, and Wimberley's first telephone switchboard.
Shopping
on the Square
Wimberley is known for unique shopping opportunities in the
town center, known locally as "The Square," although it more
closely resembles a horseshoe. Enjoy an afternoon stroll and
see what each shop has to offer. We would like to suggest
